WebI can never get a diagnosis? I'm 22 and I swear I'm on the spectrum, but my therapist is very old-school and thinks autism is when trains and numbers. The clinic says they can't diagnose me without speaking to my parents, who I'm not in contact with for various reasons. No parental involvement = no diagnosis. WebChildren with ASD often have an Individualized Education Plan (IEP) or a 504 plan. Eligible children can begin to receive services prior to formally starting school, even if the child has not been diagnosed with ASD. If you are concerned about your child, contact your local public school system.

The DSM is very specific about who can officially diagnose autism.
